Community members work to build Fallen Officer Memorial at Worthington Park

The West Memphis chamber of commerce said that it is hard to believe it has been almost three years since tragedy struck the community of West Memphis.

During a routine traffic stop on May 20, 2010, Sergeant Brandon Paudert and Officer Bill Evans were gunned down by two members who claimed they were sovereign citizens.

In a close community like West Memphis, they say, a loss like this is devastating.

The community rallied together and we mourned together.

Now the chamber wants to honor these brave men and other heroes killed in the line of duty in Crittenden County — but they need the support of caring community partners.

Local citizens are joining together to build the Fallen Officer Memorial at Worthington Park in West Memphis.

Bigamy investigation opened into Oakland's former mayor

(WMC-TV) – The Oakland Board of Aldermen accepted Scott Ferguson's resignation as mayor Wednesday night and swore in the vice mayor.

"I don't know him personally but he was a Church of Christ preacher when he was elected Mayor," said Oakland Resident, Gary Busby. "I'm very disappointed."

The Crittenden County Arkansas Sheriff has now opened an investigation into Oakland, Tennessee's former mayor Scott Ferguson.

A recent Action News 5 report revealed that an embattled Mid-South mayor has not one, but two wives.

The marriage license Action News 5 obtained shows Scott Ferguson married Miguelina Mora on Valentine's Day in West Memphis. Mora after only weeks of marriage is asking for a divorce or annulment because she alleges Ferguson is still married to the mother of his four children. That marriage happened in Tennessee according to records.

Historic church broken into, supplies swiped

PROCTOR, AR- (WMC-TV) - An Arkansas church pastor who was preparing for services Sunday morning got an unholy surprise.

Thieves had broken in overnight and stripped the church of some of its past and its future.

Pastor Lillian Hodges had to prepare her church for services twice on Sunday.

"I tell ya, I'm still nervous," said Hodges.

Hodges is still shaken up after thieves ransacked blessings through Faith Temple in Proctor, Ark. overnight.

"I went to open the door and somebody had taken screwdrivers and things, and taken all the locks off and went into the church," she said.

Crooks made off with electric heaters, sound equipment, and kitchenware. They even took all the light bulbs and food.

"The food and stuff that they ate, they just threw the containers on the floor," said Hodges. "All of our members are devastated."

Twelve of the 413 are in Crittenden County. When the rollout is completed, e-Link will have a presence in all 75 Arkansas counties.
