$120,000 stolen from City of West Memphis through checking scam
In a developing story, more than $120,000 was stolen from the City of West Memphis through a checking scam.
City officials said someone used special software to transfer money from city accounts to private off shore accounts.
They said the hackers used special software to forge fake accounts and come up with fictitious names.
The Evening Times reports all the money is covered by insurance.
West Memphis officials said they are changing the way they do business to prevent any further theft.
