Southland sees surge in business with rise of Mississippi River | Business
Title (Max 100 Charaters)
Southland Gaming and Racing in West Memphis is cashing in on the closure of casinos in Tunica County.
General Manager Troy Keeping reports "weekend crowds" during the week.
Nine casinos in Tunica were shuttered because of flooding from the Mississippi River. Keeping said he hates what his colleagues are experiencing, but wants to provide an alternative for those still looking for a place to enjoy slot machines and table games.
Keeping said Southland will add around 100 games in the coming weeks to help keep up with the increase in business. More table games will also be brought in.
Tunica casinos could remain closed for up to six weeks while the Mississippi River crests and then recedes from a near record level.
