Memphis Mayor A C Wharton and Shelby County Mayor Mark H. Luttrell, along with the Memphis Youth Violence Prevention Policy Council, need input from the public to develop a plan to combat youth violence.

West Memphis councilman faces second assault charge

West Memphis City Councilman Marco McClendon was arrested for beating up his girlfriend in front of his campaign headquarters Thursday morning.

However, this isn’t the first time the councilman has been in trouble.

Ark. group calls for reforms to curb prison growth

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - A report says Arkansas can cut its prison population growth by 3,200 inmates over the next decade and save $875 million by reducing sentences for low-level drug offenders, raising probation and parole fees and alternative sentencing.

WEST MEMPHIS, Ark. (AP) - Police in West Memphis are trying to identify the body of a woman found along railroad tracks.

Assistant Police Chief Donald Oakes says the woman's body was found about shortly before noon Sunday.

Holiday crackdown in store for drunk drivers

State and local law enforcement agencies will work overtime during the coming holiday season to identify and arrest drunk drivers who are on Arkansas streets and highways.

The heightened enforcement campaign will begin Dec. 20 and continue through Jan. 2.
