Drought hurting Arkansas ranchers, farmers | News
(WMC-TV) – This summer’s record-breaking heat wave has left agriculture workers nationwide desperate for rain and that’s a problem that could hurt you in grocery stores.
While more than half the country is in some form of drought, all of Arkansas is suffering from a lack of rain, according to the latest information provided by the government.
Farm equipment is sitting idle because there's nothing to cut and bale.
In fact, the only real activity is at the sale barns which are packed with ranchers selling off cattle.
Experts say the move could raise beef prices by 10 percent over the next year.
