Councilman Catt plans dog ordinance | Pets

West Memphis councilman Tracy Catt said he is alarmed by the number of pit bull attacks in the city.

According to a report by the Animal Control Commission, more than half of the city's dog attacks were by pit bulls.

The report also said more than 30 percent of those attacks were on children.

The councilman said most of those attacks were under the supervision of the owner.

He reported the numbers because he is planning an ordinance, but would not specify details.

The West Memphis City Council will meet next on March 21.
